Goals for 2018

Ok so I have made resolutions in the past and am decent with keeping them (as long as they are defined and not about losing weight). But I usually kept to something small that was easy be more social and invite people over more, make sure I let those who I love know it as often as possible, etc… These were easier to do but I always felt that I could be doing more. So instead of 1 thing I have my list for 2018. I have decided to do a top ten list.

  1. Putting myself back into focus. This partially means working out and eating better. I’m not going with some blank I want to lose weight but just that I want to make myself a priority: make doctors appointments for those little things I’ve pushed off, go to the gym with some regularity again, pack myself a healthy lunch for work and preplan meals on the weekends my husband works (only once a month). These things don’t really take all that much time day to day they just require some preplanning and I will once a week sit down with my hubby for just a few minutes and plan these things out.
  2. Install pantries in our house. We have been using a closet for a pantry but it’s about a room away from the kitchen and when you need something it’s just too far away and I’d love to be able to put our coats back in it. So we found some that match our cabinets at Home Depot and plan on getting them and having them installed soon.
  3. So if you are reading this then I am part of the way to this goal woot! But this goal is to make and post 2 blog posts per-month. Seems simple but I’ve been trying to actually get my blog going for about 6 months and every time I get scared of judgement, mean people who might read/comments, and all the others things that go through my head. On top of this is the fact that I work full time and have 3 kids so I’m busy to say the least.
  4. Grow my Etsy store. This one is pretty self-explanatory but I have had an Etsy store for almost 2 years and it’s great for a few bucks here and there but I want to be making a solid income from this and it’s do-able I just need to keep making and posting things as well as post more on social media about these things but one thing that stops me is time. So I have recruited a friend to help me and she is enjoying the making aspect and I hope she will keep along for the ride as a partner maybe.
  5. Make a build a stash of premade cards for events such as birthdays, weddings and babies. I love to make homemade cards but often I don’t have the time when I need one so I will plan on building my stash. I’ve started pulling stamp sets I own and paper to create a theme and color combo and will take some of my crafting time to make 3 or 4 cards in one sitting. It’ll be slow but if I can make myself actually make things instead of just play around with techniques then I’ll be golden.
  6. Toss and/or donate ½ of the kids’ toys. My children no longer play with the “baby” toys and we have tons of them. They have also developed an affinity for certain toys so we a ton of toys that don’t get played with and it just takes up space and we make a mess looking for a part here or a missing item for another toy set.
  7. Reorganize the kids rooms the baby is starting to outgrow her crib and will need to be swapped to a toddle bed soon. My kids always seem to transition quickly so we are getting ready now and plan on doing it sometime this year. She will need a bigger dresser and we have to decide if we will keep her in a separate room or move the girls into the “pink” room and our son into what in the end will be is room. We might get a bunk bed and put it in the girls room even if Sammy stays in there for a bit longer it will be nice to have that in place sooner rather than later.
  8. Another plan to get rid of things. We have a lot of random things in our garage and my plan is to clear away enough of it to be able to park a car in the garage, we probably won’t ever actually park a car in there but it would be great to be able to. We want to be able to do things and having all the extra junk that weights us down will just be great to be rid of.
  9. Getting my craft room situated. This means the insulation put up so it stay warm when the heater is on in the winter and cool when the air in on in the summer. I used to have my craft room in the house but truly I outgrew it as soon as I moved in, so we moved me to the 3rd bay of our garage and it’s perfect fit. So I want to make sure I have it situated so that my Etsy stuff is in one area and card making and other crafts in another area.
  10. Make some great memories with the kids we always try and take them to fun and exciting things so that they can enjoy themselves and smile. We want to take them to a few out of the area trips soon. Things have finally calmed down my hubby isn’t spending the summer gone and I’m not pregnant so it’s the first time we can truly go do something without anything in the way.

Bonus:

My final goal would be to be making enough money from my etsy store to quit my cubicle job and stay at home with my kids. My son start kindergarten in the fall and I’d love to be there for all the field trips and things in his life.
